Spoke Phone offers the ability to port your existing number(s) to your Spoke Phone account. This means you get to retain the same phone number while you change your existing service provider or carrier for better coverage and connectivity.
What to expect when porting a number
In most cases, porting Australian numbers is relatively low cost and easy. If your landline has other services or conditions attached to it (known as a CAT-C port) the porting process can take longer and cost more.
CAT-A/Category A/Simple Port
CAT-A ports are simple, standalone numbers - meaning they have no other numbers, enhancements, or services registered against them. These numbers use an automated porting process, which means we are usually able to port within 2-4 weeks of submitting the porting request.
CAT-C/Category C/Complex Port
The CAT-C port process applies when porting a batch of numbers, or when porting a number that is associated with more complex products, like any of the following:
- Line Hunt.
- Additional number ranges.
- Internet attached to the number.
- Telstra DOT plans.
- Fax, alarm line, or other similar features.
CAT-C ports require project management and a longer lead-in time - hence the higher cost and longer processing times.
Please be advised that it is your current carrier (that the number is being
ported away from) who determines whether it is a simple (CAT-A) port or
a complex port (CAT-C) port.

CAT-C Pricing: The cost of a CAT-C port is $350+, depending on the services
attached to the number. This price usually covers porting of up to
99 numbers. Spoke Phone cannot determine if a number is a CAT-C port
until the port is submitted. If a number requires a CAT-C port you can:
a) remove the attached services/numbers OR
b) pay the higher fees to port the number as a CAT-C port request.
How to port your number to your Spoke Phone account
Before you can submit a port request, you will need to make sure you are a Spoke Phone customer and you have a paid subscription.
Once you’re all signed up, send an email to email@example.com and our porting team will be in touch. They will provide detailed instructions and guide you through the entire process.
To speed up the process, prepare a copy of your latest bill from your current phone provider. The bill should display the following information:
- The phone number(s) you want to port.
- Company address (must be a local, valid Australian address).
- Your account name.
- Your account number.
Monthly number hosting
You get one free Geographic Landline number provided with your Spoke Phone account. For all other numbers that you port to Spoke Phone or buy from Spoke Phone, there is an ongoing monthly charge.
