Improving Call Quality by Setting your Use'rs Correct Edge Location in the Spoke Admin Console

Overview

Voice quality is a key factor in delivering a great customer experience during calls. Assigning the correct Edge Location for User's ensures optimal call performance. Incorrect configuration may cause audio latency due to misrouted network traffic and additional call quality issues.

Spoke Phone Administrator Access

You need the ability to log into the Spoke Phone Account Portal to manage your User's call edge configuration. If you are unable to login to the account portal, you may need to reset your password or ask your current administrator to grant you additional access.

Determine a User's Location and best call Edge

Determining a User's optimal call region will ensure best call quality and lowest latency. Set the Edge settings to the closest country / city (by distance) to where the User is located. The User can override their EDGE settings from their Spoke app if needed.

North America - West Coast

EDGE: US West Coast (Oregon)

TURN: Automatically Select

South America

EDGE: Brazil (Sao Paulo)

TURN: Automatically Select

United Kingdom

EDGE: Ireland (Dublin)

TURN: Automatically Select

Europe

EDGE: Germany (Frankfurt)

TURN: Automatically Select

Australasia

EDGE: Australia (Sydney)

TURN: Automatically Select

India / Pakistan

EDGE: Singapore

TURN: India (Mumbai)

Automatically Select The system will automatically select the best edge location based on internet connectivity. This can result in incorrect call region selection if a corporate network or VPN is used for connectivity.

Steps to update a User's calling location

The optimal call region for a User can be updated within the Spoke Admin Console by following the below steps:

Step 1: Log in to the Spoke Phone Account Portal

Step 2: Navigate to User's -> Manage User's

Step 3: Find the User you want to update, then click the pencil icon under the Actions column

Step 4: Go to the Advanced tab

Step 5: Set the Closest Regional Edge and TURN Server to the recommended settings identified in the location table above

For User's located in India & Pakistan, also set the TURN Server to India (Mumbai).

Step 6: Click Save Changes in the top right corner. 

Additional Information

  • If you're operating behind a corporate firewall, ensure all necessary regions are whitelisted to allow voice traffic to pass through.
