How to setup a Cisco SPA504G Desk Phone

Overview

This article will show you how to set up a Cisco SPA504G desk phone device for use with Spoke Phone.

Requirements

Experience working with IP addresses and knowledge of general technical setup procedures is recommended when integrating desk phones with Spoke Phone. For this reason, we recommend getting your IT team or contractor to assist you with the setup.

Spoke Phone is unable to offer assistance or support (other than the
information provided in help documents) in setting up and troubleshooting
desk phones.

Step #1: Generate  SIP credentials for this device

Follow these instructions to add a new device to your Spoke Phone and retrieve the SIP authentication credentials you will need for the next steps below.

Step #1: Reset the desk phone to factory default

If you have a previously used phone, a factory reset is required. If your phone is brand new out-of-the-box, you can skip this step.

How to factory reset your phone:

  1. Press the Setup button
  2. Scroll to Factory Reset and press select

The phone will be reset to the factory default settings.

Step #3: Obtain the phone's IP address

  1. Press the Paper “button” followed by the number 9. This will take you into the network settings. Option 2 on the display will show you the phone’s current IP address.
  2. Note down the IP address

  2. Enter the phone's IP address from step 3. (E.g. HTTP://<IP ADDRESS>)
  3. Click on the “Admin Login” button near the top right side of the screen, then click on the “Ext 1” tab.

Step #5: Enter the account details and SIP credentials

Modify these parameters from the factory default:

  • SIP Port:   5060 or 5061
  • Proxy:   <SIP Server / Proxy Address from Step #1>
  • Register Expires:   3600
  • User ID:   <Authentication user name from Step #1>
  • Password:   <Authentication password from Step #1>
  • Preferred Codec:   G711
If your device does not work after following these instructions,
please try SIP PORT 5061.

Transferring Calls

There are two ways to transfer calls from the Cisco phone to other users.

A) Using the desk phone

To transfer a call using the buttons on the desk phone, you need to use the keypad's STAR key (and not the phone's transfer key).

While talking on a call on your desk phone:

  1. Press the STAR key (*)
  2. Wait until you hear a beep
  3. Enter the extension number you wish to transfer the call to
  4. Press #
  5. Hang up

B) Using the Spoke Phone app on your mobile

While talking on a call on your desk phone:

  1. Pick up your mobile phone
  2. Open the Spoke Phone app
  3. The app will be in Remote Control mode, indicating you're on a call on your desk phone
  4. Tap the Transfer button
  5. Select the user to call group to transfer to
  6. Choose Cold or Announce transfer
  7. The call will be transferred off your desk phone.
